You might have heard the phrase keep your friends close, but what about your employees? You need to think about your business a little like a group of friends or even a family. Why should you do this? Well, as a starting point it will keep employees loyal, and that’s important. Loyal employees will stay with your company, even if there are other offers and opportunities on the table. This means that a competitor won’t be able to steal them away with the promise of a pay rise or indeed other benefits.

Loyalty will ensure that employees work hard for your company, maximizing their productivity every day. They will want to deliver the best because they feel like if your company succeeds, they too succeed.

Unfortunately, employees don’t naturally feel like they are part of a family when they are in business. You have to create this type of feeling, and there are a number of ways that you can do just that.

Open Your Door

Do make sure that employees feel like they can come to you if they have issues in your business. Or, if they can’t turn to you, make sure that someone in your business fills this role. You don’t want them to suffer in silence. You need them to be able to know that you can and will fix their issues. There are a variety of problems that can crop up in a business from bullying to harassment. If you leave employees to suffer in silence, they will begin to hate coming to work each day.

Again, this doesn’t need to be you, but the structure does need to be in place to make sure that employees feel like they are heard. It’s not just about dealing with problems either. Employees want to know that their opinions matter when decisions are made about how to expand or grow the business.

Get Out The Office

It is also worth making sure that you are connecting with your business team outside of the office. Obviously, you don’t want the line between boss and friend to be blurred too much. This can cause issues with both authority and respect. The perfect option would be a planned business event. If you contact eCubed Events or a similar company you can create an awesome corporate event for your team while still maintaining the structure of authority. It is a fantastic way to keep employees completely connected as part of your business.

Use Tech

Last but not least, you do need to make sure that you are using tech to stay in connect with your business team. This is particularly useful if you have a lot of mobile workers, outside of the office. With the right technology, you’ll be able to keep track and make sure that they are staying up to date with their important goals and separate jobs. Again, this does open up another way where they can communicate issues and make suggestions on improvements.

Take this advice, and you should have no problems keeping your employees loyal and excellent assets.
