Author Makes the Case for Love in Coping with Civic, Social, and Personal Turmoil

Robert Lee Hill to Sign Copies of “All You Need is More Love” in Kansas City Area

How do we cope in times of stress and seeming turmoil? Is love the answer? Robert Lee Hill thinks so, and he makes his case in “All You Need is More Love: and 101 More Musings, Essays and Sundry Pieces,” a poignant, exuberant, and vital collection of essays, musings, remembrances, and missives.

In “All You Need is More Love: and 101 More Musings, Essays and Sundry Pieces,” (Caroline Street Press, Trade Paperback, 237 pages, October 2019), Hill declares that love is foundationally and ultimately our greatest possession and our greatest gift, offering this rich trove of humor, introspection, and observation supporting the belief that we live well and live best by loving one another. Hill will sign copies of the book at several events throughout the holiday season in the Kansas City area, beginning Sunday, November 17, 2019, at The Well in Waldo (see below for a complete list of events).

“What Bob Hill knows about love could fill a book. Well, more than one, it turns out. And each one enlightens readers about the impulse behind the creation of the universe. As Hill makes clear, this is the love the Apostle Paul described so memorably. This is the love that, in the end, overcomes every force that works against its triumph. Read. Learn. Love,” said Bill Tammeuscolumnist and author of “The Value of Doubt” and “A Gift of Meaning.” Tammeus added that the book is excellent for daily readings. “Buy a copy. Keep it by your easy chair or your nightstand. Taste a little each day.”

Robert Lee Hill

Hill is a nonfiction writer, poet, and community consultant for non-profit organizations focusing on social justice issues, including quality public education, increased voter registration and participation, and access to health care for all. He has written or edited nine previous books, including “The Color of Sabbath,” “Hard to Tell,” and his initial love-focused endeavor, the acclaimed “Life’s Too Short for Anything But Love.”

Several portions of the book emanate from Hill’s time as senior minister at Kansas City’s Community Christian Church, and it features a foreword by clergyman and United States Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II (Missouri).

“All
You Need is More Love” is a potent, sorely-needed reminder of the
importance, power, and indispensability of love in our daily interactions,
civic life, and personal relationships.

Praise for “ALL YOU NEED IS MORE LOVE”

“A Google Search on the word’ love’ yields 7.8 billion results.  I daresay, though, that very few of those links will have anything approaching the wisdom, humor, poignancy, and delight to be found in these pages.  Robert Lee Hill is a keen observer of the many ways that love informs and ultimately enriches our lives, and his style invites you to muse along with him about how love continues to mark and mold us. This is a book best read not straight through but dipped into and savored one essay at a time, for each one will evoke and extend in the reader her or his own thoughts on love.  The breadth of Hill’s interests and topics is remarkable and each one offers perspectives that will leave the reader thinking ‘I never thought of it that way before.’  What higher praise can a book commend?”

Dr. Chuck Blaisdell, Former Sr. Pastor, First Christian Church, Colorado Springs, CO

“There is no better time for this book than now, when goodwill seems in such short supply. Through the experiences of a seasoned pastor, we are offered rich morsels of love, made with truth, leavened with joy, and fortified by years of work for justice and peace. Savoring the pieces amounts to a great feast. May we be nourished to create more love for the struggle ahead.”

Rita Nakashima Brock, Sr. Vice President and Director of the Shay Moral Injury Center and author (with Rebecca Ann Parker) of “Saving Paradise”

“Robert Lee Hill is a talented writer and a clear-minded thinker who makes lyrical and poetic use of the language to make an invigorating and compelling case for something sorely lacking in our conversations, civic life and our personal relationships: the case for love. Hill shares his exuberance, introspection, humor and his general fascination in a deeply engaging personal way which is sure to delight. And in doing so, readily accomplishes his own goal – a wonderful collection of reflective pieces that seeks to unite heart, mind, and soul. And what Hill shares, rest assured, you will absolutely love.”
Brent Schondelmeyer, Vice President, Missouri State Historical Society
