NEW OPENING: ASSISTANT ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE

We’re one of the fastest-growing Public Relations and Social Media Management firms in Kansas City–we have clients in San Francisco, Kansas City, Dallas, Oklahoma City, New York City and plenty of places in between. We’re looking for a talented public relations professional to begin immediately. 

We seek an energetic, sharp professional who will take the initiative and effectively manage a client portfolio. We have high standards to ensure the best service to our clients, and seek to work with people who feel the same way. If you’re the right candidate, you won’t be fetching coffee or making copies–you will work in a collaborative atmosphere and be given responsibility, autonomy and room to grow professionally.

The position starts as part-time work (25 hours per week) for 90 days. After 90 days, if you become a dependable, creative, high-performing member of our team, you will be eligible for a full-time position (Account Executive). The Account Executive position will include business development and junior account executive management responsibilities.

General Position Description: Assistant Account Executive 

The Assistant Account Executive (AAE) will manage day-to-day PR and SoMe activities on multiple accounts (B2B and B2C) in a variety of industries. The AAE reports to the company principal.

Typical Duties Include:

  • Liaising on a daily basis with clients and news media, often via telephone, Skype and email;
  • Relationship building and networking with colleagues, clients and the media;
  • Monitoring the media, including newspapers, magazines, journals, broadcasts, newswires and blogs, for opportunities for clients;
  • Social Media Content Creation;
  • Social Media account management;
  • Client e-newsletter creation and management;
  • Researching and writing web content;
  • Working as part of an account team to develop client proposals;
  • Preparing regular client reports and attending client meetings;
  • Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media;
  • Promoting news stories and features to the media;
  • Collating, analyzing and evaluating media coverage;
  • Researching, writing white papers;
  • Event management, including in-person and online press conferences and promotional events;
  • Attending and promoting client events to the media;
  • Assisting with the production of client publications, such as in-house magazines;
  • Commissioning market research;
  • Coordinating studio or location photography/videography;
  • Undertaking research for new business proposals and presenting to potential new clients;
  • Assist in managing the PR/SoMe aspects of crisis situations.

We offer a flat hourly rate plus work-related mileage and expenses. There are no health or retirement benefits offered at this time. Work hours can be flexed with an eye on meeting deadlines, attending necessary meetings or working on-site at client events or functions. There will be occasional weekend or evening event work. We do not offer relocation expenses or a signing bonus.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree. (We love Liberal Arts grads, but will consider all degreed applicants.)
  • Minimum of two years public relations and social media experience (or equivalent). This includes internal/external com, media relations, social media strategy, publicity/buzz marketing. Prefer strong media relations and social media background.
  • Strong writing skills. Must be experienced and capable at writing press releases, features, reports, web content and media pitches. Editing skills and experience a plus.
  • Experienced in use of social media and devising strategy. Includes Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Must be a self-starter who does not require constant supervision.
  • Must be a quick study. The successful candidate will absorb information quickly and get “up to speed” on a client in a relatively short time.
  • This position is based in Kansas City, Missouri. Must reside in Kansas City metro area or within reasonable driving distance.
  • An insured, dependable vehicle.
  • Mobile phone and reliable, secure internet access off site.
  • Must reliably meet deadlines.
  • Must adhere to company attire and non-disclosure requirements.
  • You can be occasionally grouchy if you’re exceptionally good at your job, but we prefer pleasant, easy-going professionals.
