From Yappy Annoyance To Playing With The Big Boys In Three Simple Steps

When starting out in business, we often focus on consumers and how to make them notice us. And that is, of course, crucial. But, customer relations aren’t the only thing you should focus on if you have success in your sights.

As your enterprise grows, you may also need to deal with other companies. This is often where the big bucks come from. If you can get a serious company to place a large order, you’ll make more money than you estimated in a year.

But, big companies don’t have to listen to the small enterprises yapping at their heels. If you want to see a substantial return from the big boys, you need to find a way to make it happen. And, here’s a three-step ladder which could take you to the top

Step #1 – Get in their league

As a sole trader, you’re going to find it near enough impossible to deal with large companies. You’ll never be able to get past the annoying yappy stage. The big dogs won’t have any reason to pay attention to you.

But, if you set up as a limited company, you stand a much better chance of getting noticed. Find out how to start an LLC, and don’t hesitate to make it happen. This way, you’re placing yourself in the same league as those you’re trying to impress. Operating as a company makes you a more serious possibility. You’ll still be small, of course, but you’ll be yapping in their faces, rather than at their heels.

Step #2 – Make them notice you

So, you’ve set yourself in the right league, but there are plenty of other small dogs trying to make a go of this. Hence, you need to make yourself stand out from your competitors. The good news is, if you get one company to notice, others usually follow. But, getting that first interest will be much harder than you expect.

For the most part, gaining success will turn the right heads. So, you could just carry on with what you’re doing and hope your success is enough to fuel you. Or, you could go right to their door and try to gain attention that way. In this case, persistence is often essential. Your big company is sure to bat you away the first few times. But, if you keep going back, they’ll have no choice but to pay attention. Bear in mind that it’s important to know when to draw the line here. You need to be persistent while remaining professional.

Step #3 – Pull the best pitch out the bag

If you do manage to catch the attention you’re after; you need to pitch as you’ve never done before. This can seem overwhelming, but it’s quite simple when you break it down. If you know your product, you shouldn’t have any issue talking about it. Other than that, just make sure you leave them feeling that they can’t live without what you have to offer.
