Can’t sleep? You’re not alone. Many CEOs and entrepreneurs suffer from sleepless nights on a very regular basis. It’s recommended that you get at least 7 hours sleep, and are you getting this every night? If you are, you are very lucky, or you are not in charge of a business! And for those who are very keen on moving into starting their own company or developing their entrepreneurial skills, what are the most common business issues that will keep you up at night?

The People

For such a vague term, it covers so many different aspects. From your customers to your employees, to your clients, they all have an important part to play, and they are all jostling for lead position. While you can attempt to corner the customers with advanced digital marketing techniques, this is one piece of the pie. Every single person can have a major impact on the outcome of your business, not least your employees. But how should you progress forward with the right employee in tow? Lots of business leaders try to look for a bit of themselves in the people they employ, and this is a simple formula to “manufacture” versions of yourself. For every single person, there is a massive weight on your shoulders, not least in the financial aspects…

The Finances

It was all so simple at the very beginning when you took out that business loan to start up your modest company with far-reaching ambition. But now, your ambition has exceeded itself, and you have found the actual act of doing business not so straightforward. Every CEO has this problem, and after a while, you can begin to delegate more things to other people, so this does help share the burden, but the “be all and end all” is down to you. The pressure alone of keeping a company afloat, paying clients, suppliers, and ensuring that your staff can take money home is a lot to take on board.

Being Innovative

Keeping ahead of the game is always going to be an anxiety you will never get yourself fully rid of. Developing ways to be on top of your game is a full-time pursuit. No matter how well established you are, you still need to keep pushing forward and finding new ways to remain relevant in the modern world. It doesn’t have to keep you awake at night in a bad way, but it might be very difficult for you to switch your brain off. This is a positive in many ways because you are looking for the next challenge. It would be worse if you slept soundly every night, complacent in the knowledge that you’ve got an established business. This is the sure fire way to your company dissolving within a few years.

Some people can’t go to sleep because they’re too excited about the new possibilities each day holds, others have excessive pressure on their shoulders. Whatever your reason for not sleeping, it’s beneficial for you, and for everybody else involved, to get good quality sleep. You can do this in many ways, but the first thing you need to do is to switch off that entrepreneurial mindset. Work is work, and sleep is sleep.
