Turn Terror into Triumph

Buffer

I’ve often presented seminars and talks about working with the news media, and was recently invited to give a “lunch and learn” on the topic to a business here in Kansas City.

You may say “My business doesn’t deal with the media, so this wouldn’t interest us.” That may be so, but it’s my contention that eventually most every business will be interviewed by or have contact with the news media. So why not be ready?

If that prospect terrifies or even intrigues you, then why not consider taking an hour or so and hearing the basics of interacting with our friends in the Fourth Estate?

My presentation discusses and provides tips covering:

  • Who are these media people and what do they want?
  • How can I convey a positive message the reporter will use?
  • Opportunity has a secret knock.
  • (Sound) Bite Back!
  • Playing the Fool: How to avoid it.
  • Crisis communications: how to make the best of a bad situation.
  • Look good, sound great and never let ‘em see you sweat.
  • What’s new in New Media?

You’ll take away a better understanding of what motivates the media and how you can turn what is often a tough situation into a triumph! If you’re interested in learning more, get in touch. I’ll also be talking about these topics occasionally right here on the blog, too. So stay tuned.
